State Police Ask For Patience While They Handle Jasper County Death Investigation
The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division Lowell Post was requested by Jasper County Sheriff Pat Williamson, to investigate an incident that occurred on September 8, 2024. This is an active investigation, Sgt. Glen Fifield stated.
At approximately 8:35 PM, on September 8th, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 medical call from a residence located about 4 miles southwest of DeMotte. Keener Township EMS arrived on scene and promptly requested assistance from the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Deputies, a Jasper County press release said. On September 10, 2024, the Sheriff’s Office was informed that the male had passed away.
The male has since been identified as Rhyker Earl, 26, of DeMotte. The family of Earl believe neglect by EMS and Police Officers played a role in his death. They have since hired two lawyers to investigate the death.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office is handling the death investigation. A forensic Autopsy was performed, medical records and toxicology results are pending review, according to the Coroners Office Tuesday afternoon. Toxicology was sent out and usually takes up to 3 weeks for results. The cause and manner of death will be pending until further review.
The Indiana State Police is also aware of information being shared on various social media sites about this case, they added in a release Tuesday. Police requested the public’s patience as detectives will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation.
