Student Struck By Car Outside Morton In Serious Condition

​On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 6:45 AM, a student was walking to Morton High School and crossed against a red pedestrian cross right light, disregarding the automatic signal at the intersection of Grand Ave. and 169th St., according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police.

The child was then struck by a vehicle traveling east on 169th street. The juvenile was transported to Comer’s Children’s Hospital with serious bodily injuries and possible partial paralysis. The driver of the vehicle showed no signs of intoxication, Kellogg said. The incident is still under investigation.
