SUV Crashes On Grant After Occupants Shot
Shortly before 7:30 PM Tuesday a SUV crashed into numerous parked cars in the Advance Auto Parts store near the intersection of 23rd & Grant Street in Gary.
On arrival police found two people in the vehicle suffering from gun shot wounds. The shooting is believed to have occured near 25th & Taft. One person was taken in critical condition but has since succumbed to their injuries at Northlake Methodist. The second male 26-years old from Portage was transferred for additional treatment. Grant Street was shutdown in both directions at 23rd as of 9PM. Lake County CSI & Lake County Metro Homicide are investigating.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Xzavier Edwards-Smith, 23, of South Holland, IL.
