SWAT Callout In Gary After Person Shot
On April 14, 2021 approximately 10:49 AM Gary Police Officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Vermont Street for shots fired, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield.
Upon arrival officers discovered a female gunshot victim, Westerfield stated. The female who was shot in the leg is in stable condition. During the incident an armed female barricaded herself in the residence. Additional units were requested to the scene and members of the Gary SWAT team were activated. The SWAT team negotiator was able to talk the female out of the residence without further incident.
At this time two females are being detained for questioning and one female was transported to the hospital for treatment of her gunshot wound.
