Three Gary Men Arrested and Charged After Search Warrant Recovers Drugs and Multiple Firearms
Three Gary men were arrested and charged after detectives executed a search warrant at a Washington Street residence and recovered multiple firearms, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, cocaine, digital scales, and packaging materials throughout the home, according to probable-cause affidavits filed in the cases.
Detectives executed the warrant on November 20, 2025, at a residence located at 2300 block of Washington Street in Gary. Upon entry, detectives located Jodie Lamar Cardine, Anthony Maurice Knight, and Antwone Donnell Smith, each of whom stated they lived at the address.
Inside the living room, detectives found a Taurus 9mm handgun on the floor approximately six feet from the front door and a Ruger 9mm pistol-carbine also on the living-room floor. Inside a nearby closet, detectives recovered an Interstate 7.62 rifle.
In the kitchen, detectives located a Glock 36 handgun inside a cabinet along with 0.2 grams of cocaine and 44.3 grams of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, which field-tested positive, the affidavits state.
During the search of the upper level, detectives located a digital money-counting machine.
Additional evidence was located in the basement. In the basement common area, detectives recovered a Hi-Point .45-caliber pistol. In the northwest basement bedroom, detectives found a digital scale with white powdery residue, another scale containing green and brown leafy residue, a box of unused sandwich baggies, used baggies, and personal documents belonging to Cardine.
Inside the southwest basement bedroom, detectives located 420 grams of synthetic marijuana, 280 grams of marijuana, and two additional digital scales containing leafy residue. Detectives noted that synthetic cannabinoids qualify as a Schedule I analog and wrote that the 420-gram quantity constitutes per se possession with intent to deliver. According to the affidavits, the amount of marijuana recovered—approximately 324.3 grams—also indicated possession with intent to deliver based on packaging materials, scales, the money counter, and the presence of multiple firearms throughout the residence.
Detectives documented the prior felony convictions of all three men, noting that each is legally prohibited from possessing firearms. Because several handguns and rifles were found in common areas of the residence, detectives concluded all three men were in possession of the firearms prior to the warrant being served.
