Thursday Evening Crash Closes 30 in Merrillville
On January 15, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a Merrillville Police Officer observed a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Merrillville Road, according to Merrillville Police.
The crash involved three vehicles, and all occupants sustained serious injuries. The Merrillville Fire Department and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to assist the injured parties. One passenger was transported by medical helicopter to a Chicago-area hospital for further treatment, while the remaining injured parties were taken to local hospitals.
The Merrillville Accident Team was called in to conduct an investigation. Eastbound U.S. 30 at Merrillville Road was closed for several hours while the accident was reconstructed.
