Train Hits Vehicle In Schererville
Around 7:30 PM Sunday, Schererville Police & Fire responded to a train vs car near the Indianapolis overpass where the train came to a stop. It is believed at this time a Westbound Canadian National train struck the vehicle between Kennedy Ave and Indianapolis Blvd away from any crossing. The driver was not in the vehicle when the collision occurred. It’s unclear at this time why the driver was off the roadway. Police were not immediately available for comment Sunday.
Schererville Fire Department Assistant Chief David Meyer confirmed there were no injuries from this incident Sunday night.
Stan’s Towing was on scene removing the vehicle around 9:15PM. The train blocking the crossing should be moved by 10pm, according to CN officials.
