Troopers Arrest Calumet City Felon With Gun

Illinois State Police (ISP) District Chicago Troopers arrested Tarelle E. Williams, a 28-year-old male of Calumet City, IL for Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony) and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon – No FOID (Class 4 Felony).

On Oct. 23, 2021, at approximately 10:37 p.m., while conducting a special enforcement detail, an ISP District Chicago Trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 94 northbound at 59th Street after observing multiple driving offenses.  Williams was taken into custody and arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Drugs and Reckless Driving, Williams was also cited for Transportation of Open Alcohol, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Speeding 35+ Miles Above Limit, Improper Lane Usage, Improper Passing on Shoulder, Following Too Closely, Failure to Signal and Failure to Wear Seat Belt.  An inventory search revealed a loaded weapon recovered from the vehicle.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office approved additional charges of Armed Habitual Criminal (Class X Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 Felony), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon -No FOID (Class 4 Felony). Williams remains in custody at the Cook County Jail with a $45,000 (10% applies) bond.

“Through increased patrol efforts on Chicago area expressways, Troopers continue diligent enforcement efforts to stop criminal activity and ensure safe travel on interstates throughout Cook County for the motoring public,” stated ISP District Chicago Captain David Keltner.
