Two Arrested In St. John After Vehicle Break Ins

At about 3:45am Monday morning, St. John Police received a complaint of a theft from motor vehicle in progress in the 10600 Block of Bailey St., according to Roger Patz St. John Public Information Officer. The homeowner confronted two suspects and when he tried to physically restrain one of the suspects, the second suspect allegedly displayed a firearm and the two fled the area in a white SUV. The homeowner was uninjured, Patz stated.

About 20 minutes later, St. John Police received a complaint from a resident in the 10500 Block of Manor, reporting that they heard their overhead garage door opening. Cedar Lake and Schererville Police were already in the area assisting St. John in looking for the suspect vehicle from the first call. Cedar Lake Police spotted the white SUV in the 10700 Block of Manor Drive and conducted a traffic stop assisted by Schererville and St. John Police, Patz told Region News.

Two male suspects were taken into custody and lodged at the Lake County Jail. The suspect vehicle was secured and taken to the St. John Police Department.

The St. John Police Department extended their appreciation for the quick assistance provided by both the Cedar Lake and Schererville Police Departments.
