Two Chesterton Residents Charged After Domestic Disturbance Involving Scissors Stabbing, Child Present

Two Chesterton residents, Keshawn Lamar Stephens, 27, and Tiffany Amber Wilfong, 30, are facing multiple felony charges following a late-night domestic disturbance that police say involved a physical fight, a scissors stabbing, extensive blood loss inside a home, and a child present during the violence.

According to the probable cause affidavits, officers were first dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South 19th Street in Chesterton at approximately 10:24 p.m. on December 20, 2025, in reference to a 911 hang-up call. When officers arrived, they spoke with Wilfong, who initially denied calling 911 and stated police were not needed.

A short time later, officers were called back to the residence. Wilfong admitted she had called 911 and told police she and Stephens were involved in a disturbance. Wilfong stated Stephens lunged at her and bear hugged her after she asked him to leave. She told officers she stabbed Stephens with scissors because she believed he was going to attack her.

Wilfong told police Stephens fled the residence and was bleeding heavily. Officers were unable to locate him at that time, and Wilfong refused to allow officers inside the home, court records state.

Police were called to the residence a third time after Wilfong reported Stephens was hiding inside the house. Upon entering, officers observed a massive amount of blood throughout the residence, including blood on bedding and clothing inside a closet. Officers eventually located Stephens hiding in an upstairs bathtub, bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his right arm.

Officers applied a tourniquet to Stephens’ arm, and he was transported by medics to a hospital for treatment, according to court records.

A witness told police the pair had been hosting a party where alcohol was consumed and that Stephens and Wilfong were physically fighting. The witness stated she observed Stephens hit Wilfong multiple times in the head and face. Court records state the altercation occurred in the physical presence of a child.

Police reported blood was observed throughout the residence, including on the child’s bedding and clothing.

Wilfong later told officers she stabbed Stephens with scissors because she feared he was going to attack her. Officers reported they did not observe visible injuries on Wilfong at the time but did observe multiple stab wounds to Stephens’ arm.

Stephens told police he and Wilfong were hosting a party when Wilfong became upset because he was talking to a mutual female friend. Stephens stated Wilfong threatened to call police because he had an active warrant and knew he was violating a no-contact order protecting Wilfong from him. Stephens stated he went to hide from Wilfong and she stabbed him with scissors.

Court records state Stephens has a prior domestic battery conviction, with Wilfong listed as the victim.
