Two Chicago Police Officers & Suspect Shot Overnight

Two Chicago Police officers and a suspect were shot in Chicago in the Hohman Square neighborhood overnight Sunday morning.

Police say around 2:33am officers conducted a traffic stop on the 3300 block of Polk Street when officers noticed a gun in the vehicle. Police ordered the driver to exit the vehicle in which he did not comply resulting in the window being broken out. While attempting to make the arrest the suspect began firing at officers hitting two. A third officer returned fire hitting the suspect, police said.

One officer was stuck multiple times in the chest, back, and side and is listed in serious condition. The second officer was struck in the shoulder & chest but is listed in good condition. A supervisor drove them both to an area hospital probably saving their lives the Mayor said in a press conference Sunday morning.

The suspect was transported to Loyola in critical condition but is now in stable condition.
