Two Dead After Hammond Shooting

On Saturday, October 17th, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Hammond police responded to the area of Hohman Avenue and Gostlin Street in reference to shots fired, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of The Hammond Police.

Police arrived and spoke with a witness who stated that unknown black males in masks, and another black male, were arguing in the lot and began shooting at each other. The single black male got into a Buick Rendezvous with a black female in the passenger seat and fled the area. The witness states three black males got into another vehicle and also fled the area.

While officers were gathering information, another call came in about a vehicle that had crashed in a building at Gostlin and State Line Ave. Officers arrived there and located a Buick Rendezvous that had been struck several times with gunfire. A 27 year old male and 30 year old female from Chicago had several gunshot wounds inside the vehicle. The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The male subject was transported to the hospital and police were informed that he died there. Also in the car was an approximately 2-year-old child. The child was not injured and was taken into protection by Child Protective Services.

The two victims have been identified by The Lake County Coroner as Christienne Cloutier, 27, of Chicago and Krystol McDonald-Jones, 30, of Chicago.
