Two Minnesota Men Found With 154 LBS of Marijuana After Traffic Stop In Porter County

Phillip Bowie, 30, and Ramon Bowie, 27, both of Saint Peter, Minnesota, are facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Porter County led to the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana and THC products, according to court documents.

According to probable cause affidavits, the incident occurred on December 11, 2025, at approximately 2:23 p.m., when an Indiana State Police trooper observed a blue Toyota Corolla with Minnesota registration traveling westbound on Interstate 80/94 near the 19.9-mile marker crossover in Porter County. Police allege the vehicle was following another vehicle too closely, prompting the traffic stop.

Court records state that upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper detected an overwhelming odor of raw marijuana coming from inside. Two men were observed occupying the front seats, along with large cardboard boxes and a large black trash bag in the back seat area. The driver identified himself as Ramon Bowie, while the passenger identified himself as Phillip Bowie.

While speaking with Ramon Bowie, the trooper asked how much marijuana was inside the vehicle. Court documents state Ramon mumbled and then said, “I don’t know.” When asked if the car was loaded, Ramon initially said no, then stated he did not know, and later advised that he does not answer questions. Court records further state Ramon asked whether marijuana was legal in Indiana and continued asking questions about Indiana marijuana laws, stating he was “just curious.”

Police then identified the passenger as Phillip Bowie. Court records state a records check revealed Phillip Bowie had a full U.S. extraditable warrant out of Texas for a parole violation, which was confirmed by Indiana State Police dispatch. A canine unit was requested and conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed raw marijuana and THC products, including oils, edibles, and wax. The evidence was later weighed and totaled approximately 154 pounds.

    •    Dealing in Marijuana; more than 10 pounds (Level 5 Felony)
