Shooting Across From ECPD
On Friday morning around 10am East Chicago Police reported shots fired near the Police Department lobby. Further investigation showed a shooting had taken place across the street at The Mobil Gas Station located at 2220 E. Columbus Dr. Two victims were possibly struck by gunfire and their condition is unknown at this time. It is believed by witnesses that one of the victims crossed the street to seek help at the ECPD which can also be seen taped off in front of the entrance. A possible weapon was recovered near the scene.
East Chicago Police and Lake County Sheriff CSI are investigating as of 11:30am and we will have further updates from Police later this afternoon.
