On January 25, 2025, at approximately 2:20 AM, Hammond Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2300 block of New York Avenue in response to reports of shots fired, according to Hammond Police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old male who had sustained a fatal gunshot injury. A 27-year-old male was also found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and being treated.
