Two Sticks Of Jerky… One Trip To Porter County Jail
A Davenport, Iowa man identified as Marshonn Dontay Sullivan, 28, is charged in Porter County, after Porter Police say he stole snack items from the Porter Quick Stop in the U.S. 20 / Waverly Road area of Porter.
According to the probable cause affidavit, at about 10:02 p.m. on December 3, 2025, a Porter Police Officer was dispatched to the Porter Quick Stop for a theft complaint involving a male who left the store with two sticks of beef jerky without paying. Dispatch advised the male, described as a black male wearing dark clothing, ran southbound on Waverly Road after the theft.
The affidavit states the officer drove north on Waverly Road and saw a man in dark clothing walking south holding what appeared to be a beef jerky stick in his left hand.When the officer activated emergency lights and got out, the male dropped the beef jerky onto the ground.
Police say Sullivan verbally identified himself and stated, “I did it,” after being told they were returning to the Porter Quick Stop to continue the investigation.
According to the affidavit, the officer observed multiple food items stuffed inside his coat before returning to the business. A store representative told police they wanted criminal charges pursued and requested the male be trespassed from the property.
Officers compared the recovered food items to store stock and determined a Jack Link’s beef jerky stick and Jack Link’s steak bites were from the Porter Quick Stop with a total value of $7.15. The items were returned to the store.
Police advised Sullivan he was under arrest for theft and issued a criminal trespass warning for the business.
Lodged in the Porter County Jail.
