Update On Toll Road Crash Wednesday

Liberty firefighters were called to respond to the Indiana I 80/90 Toll Road near the 28 Mile Marker eastbound early Wednesday evening November 25th, 2020 for a motor vehicle who had struck a guardrail and another motor vehicle being struck, according to Liberty Township Fire Department.

Reports came in just before 6 PM stating a subject laying unresponsive on the ground and a vehicle being on fire. Fire Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found no vehicles being on fire and all patients conscious and alert involved in the crash.
A medical helicopter was requested but all were unable to fly due to inclement weather conditions. First responders rushed a single patient by ground ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital while another patient was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital in Liberty Township. Transported patients are expected to make a full recovery.

Dense fog may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Travelers are reminded during inclement weather to slow down and focus on driving.
