Updated Information On Gas Station Stabbing
On April 8, 2021 at approximately 7:50 PM, Hobart Police responded to St. Mary Medical Center in reference to a stabbing victim, according to Captain James Gonzales of The Hobart Police.
The Officer arrived and spoke with the victim, who stated that he was at the Family Express gas station, located at Route 6 and Countyline Road in Hobart. The victim told the Officer that he was there with a friend and his friend’s girlfriend. He told the Officer that there was a male black subject yelling and arguing with a female, who he thought may have been the subject’s girlfriend and that he told the subject that he didn’t like the way he was talking to the female which then lead to the two of them exchanging words, the subject told the victim to mind his own business. The victim said that the subject threatened to stab him, and the subject went back to his vehicle and took out a machete style knife. The victim said that the subject swung the machete style knife at him, and it struck his thumb and his shoulder. The victim stated he retreated back to his friend’s vehicle a left the gas station. The victim told the Officer he came to the hospital to receive medical treatment for his wounds.
The suspect is described as being a dark complected black male with a thin build, he is described being bald or having very short hair, approximately 5′ 10″ in height and possibly in his 30’s and he was driving a tan Dodge pick-up truck.
The Officer did observe the lacerations on the victim that were consistent with being sliced or stabbed with a sharp object. Officers collected blood evidence at the crime scene at Family Express.
