Valparaiso Man Charged With Three Counts of Child Molesting
According to court documents, David John Litzau, 29, of Valparaiso, has been charged in Porter County with three counts of child molesting.
The case was filed after police received a report in February 2025. The juvenile victim disclosed during a forensic interview at the Dunebrook Advocacy Center that she was sexually assaulted on December 31, 2023, at the Days Inn in Portage. She was 12 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
The victim told investigators the assaults occurred over the course of the night and into the morning hours of January 1, 2024, while others were present in the hotel room. She also reported that afterward, Litzau continued to communicate with her through text messages and by giving her gifts.
Detectives later interviewed Litzau at his Valparaiso residence. He admitted to exchanging text messages with the victim and giving her gifts but denied sexual contact.
Court documents state that Litzau was 28 years old at the time of the alleged offenses.
Charges filed August 26, 2025 :
• Child Molesting where defendant is at least 21 years of age (Level 1 Felony)
• Child Molesting where defendant is at least 21 years of age (Level 1 Felony)
• Child Molesting where defendant is at least 21 years of age (Level 1 Felony)
Litzau is currently lodged in the Porter County Jail.
