
Valparaiso Woman Accused of Meth Dealing Following Search of Family Home
A 45-year-old Valparaiso woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say they recovered methamphetamine, marijuana, syringes, and drug paraphernalia during a search of her residence.
According to court documents, Melissa R. Monette was formally charged on July 15, 2025, following an investigation by the Porter County Multi-Enforcement Group (PCMEG) and the Valparaiso Police Department.
The investigation led detectives to execute a search warrant at Monette’s residence in the 1100 block of Emma Court in Valparaiso. Officers reported locating the following items:
• 54 grams of methamphetamine inside the pocket of a sweatshirt
• 40 grams of methamphetamine inside a black safe
• Glass smoking devices and a syringe also located inside the black safe
• 11 grams of marijuana found inside Monette’s black purse
• Packaging materials discovered in a tan safe
In total, officers recovered approximately 94 grams of methamphetamine, along with marijuana and various items of paraphernalia.
Monette was lodged in the Porter County Jail on July 17, 2025.

• Dealing in Methamphetamine: Possession with Intent, 10 g or more – Level 2 Felony
• Possession of Methamphetamine; Over 28 g – Level 3 Felony
• Maintaining a Common Nuisance – Level 6 Felony
• Unlawful Possession of Syringe – Level 6 Felony
• Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor
• Possession of Paraphernalia; Introducing a Controlled Substance into Body – Class C Misdemeanor
