Valpo Police Airlift Self- Inflicted Gun Shot Victim
The Valparaiso Police responded to the 3000 block of Virginia Park Dr. at 6:09 p.m. tonight in reference to the report a gunshot heard in the area, according to Valparaiso Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers were directed to a specific location where a resident was found having sustained a gunshot wound. The preliminary investigation indicates the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, Valparaiso Police stated. The patient was transported by ambulance to the area of Valparaiso St. and Vale Park Rd, where they were then airlifted to an area trauma center for additional treatment.
There is no known threat to the community at this time, as police believe the incident is isolated to the residence in which the patient was located.
