Vehicle Crashes Into House Overnight In Hammond
At 1:45 AM on April 26, 2023, the Hammond Indiana Police Department responded to reports of a single car accident at a residence in the 3700 block of Hohman. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle had crashed into the front of the residence and had flipped over, trapping the driver inside.
The Hammond Fire Department arrived on the scene shortly after the police and worked to cut the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was alert, conscious and transported to the hospital. The residence sustained significant structural damage to the front of the building. Fortunately, the family inside the residence was unharmed. The building inspector has been called out to assess the damage and ensure the safety of the structure.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation and The Hammond Police will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
