Westville Man Charged with Felony OWI After Head-On Crash in LaPorte County

Nathaniel David Greene, 43, of Westville, has been charged in LaPorte County after allegedly causing a head-on collision while intoxicated, resulting in serious injuries to another person.

According to court documents, first responders were dispatched on June 4, 2025, to the area of US 35 and Johnson Road for a two-vehicle crash. One of the drivers was found on the ground near a vehicle in significant pain, reporting possible broken ribs, and was actively vomiting due to the severity of the injuries. The individual was transported to a medical facility for treatment.

Deputies reported that Greene showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, lethargy, and poor coordination. Empty alcoholic containers were found inside the vehicle, and an open miniature liquor bottle was located in Greene’s pocket. He allegedly admitted to consuming “a lot” of alcohol and initially refused a chemical test. A court-authorized blood draw later revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.364. Witnesses and physical evidence indicated Greene had crossed the center line and was driving without headlights at the time of the crash.

Greene was also taken to a hospital for evaluation and later transferred due to injuries sustained in the collision. Investigators confirmed a prior conviction for operating while intoxicated from July 2024.

Charges filed on June 10, 2025:
