Whiting Police Respond To Shooting Monday
On Monday around 2:00 PM Whiting & Hammond Police responded to 119th & Atchison for a report of shots fired, according to information derived from radio traffic.
On arrival police found a crime scene and a male victim shot in the foot. A broken window on the third floor of the apartment building was also discovered. While on scene RNS learned the victim was delivering food items and the bag of items could be seen outside of the apartments the victim was delivering. ATF agents also assisted Whiting & Hammond Police during the investigation.
After a two hour standoff searching for the suspect in the apartment building police apprehended a male matching the descriptions given by witnesses and camera images around 3:52PM.
Whiting Police were not immediately available for comment Monday night to get into more detail of what transpired before the shooting. We will provide further updates on this incident when information becomes available.
