Woman Killed In Overnight Crash
A single vehicle accident on the 700 block of Burr Street in Gary left one woman deceased early Sunday morning. Gary Police and Fire responded around 2:30 AM for a possible crash after a caller described hearing a crash and a horn going off.
On arrival police found a vehicle on its roof located on the sidewalk. The driver of the vehicle needed to be extricated by The Gary Fire Department. Officials discovered she was no longer breathing and had no pulse. The Lake County Coroner and Crash Reconstruction Team was dispatched to the scene.
The Lake County Coroner has identified the victim as Tiera Hicks, 29, of Gary. Her death was ruled accidental. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
This is the second fatal crash this weekend in Gary. The first was Friday on Clark Rd & Industrial involving a semi and two other vehicles.
