Woman Leads Police On Pursuit After Burglary At Schererville Lowes

On Sunday, April 17, 2022 at approximately 12:43 AM Schererville Police Officers were dispatched to 637 US 41, Lowes Home Improvement Store, in regards to an alarm at the garden center doors, according to Commander Kevin Wagner of The Schererville Police. 

Upon arrival officers located a black SUV with a plastic shopping bag covering the license plate that was parked near the garden center, Wagner told RNS.  A female got into the driver seat of the vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed southbound on US 41 into St John.  St John Police joined and then took over the pursuit. St. John Police pursued the vehicle south to 205th & Wicker where the suspect was forced to stop with the assistance of a ditch and Lowell Officers. A 56 year old female was taken into custody.      

It was later determined that the female, Joelle Jacques, 56, from Calumet City IL, had stolen multiple flowers and plants from Lowes.  She was later transported to Lake County Jail with the following preliminary charges:
Resisting Law Enforcement – Level 6 Felony

Theft – Class A Misdemeanor

Reckless Driving – Class C Misdemeanor
