Woman Pulls Gun On Staff Because Of The Food Packaging
On Wednesday, 4/28/2021, at approximately 1:00PM, Merrillville Police Officers responded to a call of a female with a gun at a restaurant in the 200 block of W 81st Avenue, according to Assistant Chief Kosta Nuses.
Police learned a female arguing with restaurant employees became very angry Wednesday afternoon. During the argument the female told and showed employees she had a handgun. Police later determined that the female was a disgruntled customer and was angry about the packaging of her food, Nuses told RNS. As her anger escalated she loaded the handgun, telling employees she was not concerned about going to jail and she didn’t care who she shot, Nuses stated.
Once police spoke to the female suspect she denied all accusations against her. However video surveillance captured the entire incident, confirming the allegations made against the female suspect. A handgun was also recovered in the process and the female suspect was taken into custody.
Felony charges will be presented to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect is currently lodged on probable cause charges at the Lake County Jail. The name and mugshot will come in the following days. Check back for updates.
