19 Tested At La Porte County Jail Come Back Negative
Midmorning yesterday (04/27/2020), the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) Jail Administration learned of several inmates who were displaying potential signs and symptoms of the novel coronavirus or had been exposed to those with signs and symptoms. The medical staff of the Jail Division, a 24/7 contracted medical service provider, immediately responded and began to evaluate each of these said inmates. Precautionary measures were immediately implemented thereafter by the staff of the Jail Division.
Late yesterday afternoon, nineteen inmates incarcerated in the La Porte County Jail (LCJ) were tested for coronavirus. Additionally, three contract employees were tested as well. This morning, the Jail Administration was advised of the results which all returned “not detected” (negative).
The Jail Division continues to treat the threat of the coronavirus pandemic very seriously. The LCJ continues to be thoroughly cleaned and the medical staff is continuing to monitor the health of every inmate. The entire LCSO remains committed to maintaining a healthy and safe environment for our staff and the citizens of La Porte County.
