Trooper Investigating Crash Rear Ended And Injured

Around 12am Wednesday Indiana State Police were investigating a crash on 80/94 Westbound at mm 7.3 between Grant & Burr. During this investigation around 12:35am a Chevrolet Suburban ran into the rear of the ISP car crushing the rear end and pushing the police car against the center median with the trooper in the vehicle, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield of The Indiana State Police. Two other Troopers were on scene for traffic control and jumped over the median to avoid being hit, Fifield told RNS. The trooper in the car was taken to Northlake Methodist in serious condition. The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban refused a field sobriety test and was brought for a blood test at a local hospital.

We will have further updates through the morning.
