Hammond — A police pursuit involving a vehicle believed to be connected to multiple bank robberies ended in an arrest Wednesday after spanning several Northwest Indiana communities.

According to the Hammond Police Department, officers initially responded to a report of a suspect vehicle traveling southbound on Kennedy Avenue near Corinne Drive. An officer located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading officers on a pursuit.

The pursuit traveled through Highland and into Munster before looping back into Hammond. During the incident, Munster Police officers deployed stop sticks at Ridge Road and Northcote Avenue, successfully disabling one of the vehicle’s tires.

Despite the damage, the suspect continued to flee until officers were able to bring the pursuit to a stop near 165th Street and Calumet Avenue. The driver was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.

The suspect was transported to the Hammond Police Department jail. No officers were injured during the pursuit.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and additional details, including potential charges and the suspect’s identity, are expected to be released as the case develops.
