Joshua Elijah Armour, 31, of Flossmoor, Illinois, is facing multiple charges after police say he fled from officers in Schererville during a traffic stop and caused a crash involving multiple vehicles in Dyer.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on April 9, 2026, at approximately 8:55 p.m., a Lake County officer was made aware that the Dyer Police Department had recently pursued a black Acura sedan that fled near the Indiana/Illinois state line.

A short time later, the officer observed a vehicle matching that description traveling on U.S. 30 and confirmed through dispatch that the vehicle had a suspended registration.

When the officer initiated a traffic stop, police say the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed, initiating another pursuit. The vehicle traveled along U.S. 30, at times driving through a grass median and into opposing lanes of traffic.

The pursuit ended near U.S. 30 and Meredith Way when the fleeing vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, causing a crash involving multiple vehicles.

Police say two occupants of the primary vehicle struck complained of pain, while others involved did not report injuries.

Officers broke the driver’s side window to gain entry and removed the driver, identified as Armour, who was the sole occupant. Authorities say a records check showed Armour had a revoked driver’s license out of Illinois.

While being transported to jail, Armour asked if he could speak and then began talking about the incident without being questioned. Armour took responsibility for both pursuits, stating that he was scared to lose his license again because he has a nine-month-old daughter and did not want to go to jail in Indiana for his revoked license.

Armour further stated that he did not want to jeopardize getting his license back because he is taking driving classes in Illinois. He also stated he ran from police because he had just secured employment and was trying to get to his girlfriend’s residence in Schererville.

According to court documents, Armour stated that after fleeing from Dyer Police earlier, his girlfriend offered for him to leave the vehicle in Illinois and pick him up, but he refused because he needed the vehicle for work the next morning. He stated he knew police would likely be looking for him but believed he could make it to Schererville without getting caught.

Court documents state Armour admitted he knew his driver’s license was suspended at the time of the incident.

Lodged in the Lake County Jail.
