5 Small Children Found At Gary’s 63rd Homicide Scene
On December 27, 2022, at approximately 12:37 AM, Gary Police Department received a call for service at a residence in the 3800 block of Adams Street, according to Commander Jack Hamady. The call for service originally received was a shots fired call and later an ambulance was requested by the caller.
Officers arrived on scene and approached the residence. The caller was not present and officers observed several small children running around inside the residence. Officers gained entry and located 5 small children inside the residence and also located a 31 year old female unresponsive in the living room. No other adults were located inside the residence. Gary Fire Department arrived on scene and advised the unresponsive female was deceased.
Officers secured the scene and contacted Lake County Crime Lab and Gary Metro Homicide Unit. The children were released to family after Child Protective Services were contacted.
It is believed this is an isolated incident and a person of interest has been developed, Hamady told RNS.
