57 Year Old Shot Walking Out The House Tuesday Morning

On Tuesday, December 29, 2020 approximately 5:07 AM Gary Officers were dispatched to the area of 1900 Grant Street for reports of shots fired, according to Lt. Dawn Westerfield.

Upon arrival officers observed a 57-year-old male black from Gary laying in the roadway receiving aid from other citizens. The male stated he had exited his residence he was surprised by two male black subjects wearing all black that began firing, Westerfield told RNS. The two males then fled east bound down 19th Place after the attempted robbery.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been transferred to a Chicago Hospital for treatment for a broken arm and leg with artery damage. This marks Gary’s 178th shooting in 2020.
