In response to the devastating severe weather, tornadoes, flooding, and derecho conditions that impacted Indiana this week, Governor Mike Braun has declared a State of Disaster Emergency for 63 Indiana counties, including Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, and Newton Counties.

The declaration will remain in effect for 30 days and allows the Indiana Department of Homeland Security to mobilize resources and provide financial assistance to eligible residents through the State Disaster Relief Fund.

Governor Braun stated:

“Many Hoosier communities were impacted by the severe weather that swept through our state this week. This emergency declaration ensures that every available state resource is mobilized quickly to support response efforts, help local governments address urgent needs, and help Hoosiers recover.”

If your home or property was damaged during this week’s storms and you have eligible disaster-related expenses, you may apply for assistance through the State Disaster Relief Fund.
