Hasaun Clark, 23, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has been charged after prosecutors allege he attempted to escape from lawful detention while housed at the Lake County Jail.

According to court documents, investigators reviewing jail surveillance video observed Clark allegedly force open the food-trap door of his cell and squeeze through the opening on March 18, 2026. Clark then allegedly ran from the housing unit, through a jail corridor, and into a stairwell leading to the first floor of the facility.

Court records state correctional officers pursued Clark through the jail. After reaching the first-floor landing, Clark allegedly attempted to access another secured area before positioning himself behind a stack of jail mattresses. Officers reported that Clark refused commands to surrender and was ultimately subdued with a Taser before being handcuffed, shackled, and placed in a restraint chair.

According to jail reports cited in the probable cause affidavit, Clark had allegedly threatened officers earlier in the evening after repeatedly kicking and banging on his cell door while demanding to be released. Officers reported that Clark told them he needed to be let out and threatened physical violence if they did not open the cell door.

Investigators stated that after reviewing surveillance footage and jail reports, they determined there was probable cause to believe Clark attempted to escape from lawful detention.
