Postal Worker Shot At On Job In Gary Friday

Gary Police were dispatched Friday at 7:09PM to 1499 Martin Luther King Dr in reference to a gun shot victim, according to Commander Jack Hamady of The Gary Police.

Officers arrived and spoke with a female mail carrier 31 years old who reported she was in her route in Glen park near the 4200 block of Tennessee when she came into contact with a short male black wearing a red shirt. The individual was driving a tan older model vehicle unknown make. The male became argumentative with her regarding where she had parked her mail truck during her route, police said. The male left and came back a short time later with a handgun and began shooting at her while she was inside the mail truck. A parked Cadillac on the street was also struck by gunfire.

She fled area in the truck but sustained injury to her face from shrapnel. She was not struck by a bullet but was injured from the debris and glass from the bullets, police told RNS.
