11 Transported After Lansing School Bus Crash
On April 5, 2022, at approximately 9 PM, the Lansing Fire Department was dispatched for a vehicle accident involving a school bus at the corner of Ridge & Torrence.
Crews arrived on scene within four minutes and found a two-vehicle collision between a school bus and a passenger vehicle, Lansing Fire Department said. It was determined the bus was transporting members of the T. F. South Track team at the time of the accident. Parents of the students had already started to arrive on scene and met with our Incident Command. All parties involved were evaluated by Lansing Fire personnel and triaged per protocol. In total, eleven individuals requested transport for evaluation.
Due to the number of patients requesting transport, the incident was elevated to the box alarm level, and then to a second alarm. Ambulances from Lansing, Thornton, South Holland, Glenwood, Hazel Crest, and Tinley Park transported patients to area hospitals, all with minor injuries. Munster, Flossmoor, Oak Forest, and Country Club Hills Fire Departments assisted with apparatus and station coverage during the duration of the incident.
Lansing Fire Department thanked the Mutual Aid partners for their assistance. Officials also thanked the residents and the parents of the students involved for their understanding and patience during the incident.
