Highland Man Arrested After Disturbance Involving A Child
Gary Police arrested a 22-year- old Highland man at his home after he fled a domestic disturbance on Gary’s lower west side, according to Gary Police.
The suspect, Anthony Acuna, fled the Gary home after having a physical altercation with the mother of his small child. Acuna became angry when the child’s mother asked if he had hidden her cell phone. The woman fled and locked herself in a bedroom with their child, police told RNS.
Acuna’s mother arrived at the home and instructed Acuna to grab the diapers and the bag. Acuna then proceeded to kick in the bedroom door, grabbed the baby from the mother’s arms and fled in a blue Saturn. The police were called and after arriving, they were told to where Acuna may have gone.
Gary Police Lieutenant Wolf then notified the Highland Police Department. Highland Officers located and detained Acuna, still with his child at his home in the 3400 block of Garfield where Lieutenant Wolf and Corporal Hedrick met them and arrested Acuna. The child (male) was released to its mother unharmed.
This case is being investigated by Detective Olivia Vasquez.
