Two Shot In Gary After Shots Fired At Diamond Club

Gary Police responded to Gary Methodist Hospital for reports of gun shot victims believed to have been injured during a shoot out at The Diamond Center located in the parking lot of Railcats Stadium on Gary’s east side. Gary Officers could be seen early Sunday morning laying over 60 evidence markers down in the parking lot while the investigation was ongoing.

Upon arrival at Methodist, officers spoke to a 39-year-old west side man who refused to provide any information. The injured man was later taken to another hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Police reported that at around 3 AM as The Diamond Center was closing a disturbance erupted and shots were fired. Several cars were struck by bullets during the incident. The cause of the disturbance is not known.

Officers also interviewed a 25-year-old shooting victim. The Gary man told police that he was outside with a group of friends in what may have been the 300 block of Garfield Street when he heard gunfire that he believes came from a passing car. The victim states he hid behind a car and when the suspect vehicle left the area he began walking and realized he had been struck in the foot. He was transported to the hospital by a friend.
