Fatal Collision On 80/94 Tuesday Near State Line
Illinois State Police, Lansing Police, and Lansing Fire were dispatched to a serious multi vehicle crash Tuesday, June 6, 2023, around 5:04 PM, on Interstate 80 eastbound near the Torrence Ave exit.
Preliminary investigation revealed two vehicles collided while driving at a high rate of speed, according to Illinois State Police. Vehicle 1 lost control and went under a Truck Tractor Semi Trailer striking the tandem wheels. The driver and sole occupant of vehicle 1 was pronounced deceased on scene. The identity of that driver has not been released by The Cook County Medical Examiner. The occupants of vehicle 2, driver and passenger, were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A second truck and another passenger vehicle were also involved in this crash. The driver of the other passenger vehicle was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The three right lanes were closed for investigation and reopened at approximately 2:40 AM, Wednesday.
