SWAT Responds To Lake Station Monday
On June 26, 2023, at approximately 4:54 PM, officers of the Lake Station Police Department responded to a call for service in the 2300 block of Sullivan Street, according to Lake Station Police.
After arriving and speaking with a female on scene, officers believed that there were one or more armed suspects inside of a residence that had just committed a serious felony. A search warrant was requested and obtained through the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office and the warrant was executed by the Northwest Indiana Regional SWAT Team. Ultimately, no suspects were located inside at the time.
“We understand that this caused quite a disruption to residents in the area, but these steps are taken to ensure the safety of our officers and the public,” Lake Station Police Chief James Richardson said. “These steps will always be taken in an ongoing attempt to hold those accountable who believe they can victimize other individuals,” Richardson stated.
The incident was isolated and there is no threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be made available at a later time.
