David Caseas Lopez, 49, is accused of molesting a child at an East Chicago residence in 2018.
According to court documents, the child reported during a forensic interview that she was approximately 7 or 8 years old when Lopez approached her while she was lying in her mother’s bedroom. Lopez was dating the child’s mother and living at the residence at the time.
The child alleged Lopez climbed on top of her, asked, “Can I see something?” and lifted her shirt and training bra before licking her breasts. Lopez then allegedly asked whether he could lick her “private parts,” but stopped after she refused.
According to the affidavit, Lopez told the child not to disclose what happened and threatened to hurt her and her mother. The child reportedly said she was afraid because Lopez had previously struck her and threatened to kill her mother.
The child allegedly waited several months before telling anyone what happened. Her mother told investigators that the child had previously disclosed being molested by Lopez but had not provided the full details.
Police interviewed Lopez on August 18, 2026. Lopez denied the allegations but allegedly would not answer when asked whether he believed the child was lying. When an investigator asked whether the allegations could have resulted from an “accident,” Lopez reportedly responded, “Who knows.”
According to court documents, Lopez also told investigators that he had previously asked the child’s mother to keep the child away from him because of molestation allegations dating to 2010.
Charge filed August 20,2026:
