Woman Charged With Murder After Hammond Stabbing
At approximately 3:25 AM on May 19, 2024, officers from the Hammond Police Department responded to a call regarding a possible stabbing incident in the 1600 block of 169th Place, according to Hammond Police. Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Isaiah McCriston with an apparent stab wound. Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched to the scene.
During the course of the initial investigation, officers also interviewed a female individual present at the location. Preliminary findings led investigators to determine that the incident stemmed from a domestic situation.
Following a thorough investigation, 28-year-old Chukeya Rockett was taken into custody and has been charged with murder in connection with the incident. Ms. Rockett is currently being held pending further legal proceedings.
The Hammond Police Department is not releasing additional details at this time. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim,” HPD said.
