Two Injured in Motorcycle Versus Deer Collision

At approximately 8:38 P.M. on May 8th, 2024, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene of a motorcycle colliding with a deer on County Rd. 100 W., about 1200 feet north of County Rd. 1000 N. Arriving at the scene, they found two injured parties—the motorcycle occupants and the wounded deer.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that a 2023 Harley Davidson, driven by Loren A. Allen (40 years old) from Wheatfield, Indiana, with Selena A. Besner (34 years old), also from Wheatfield, Indiana, as a passenger, was heading northbound on County Rd. 100 W. As they progressed, they encountered a deer on the road, leading to a collision. Subsequently, Loren A. Allen lost control of the motorcycle, veering into a ditch on the west side of the road, and ejecting Selena A. Besner.

Both individuals sustained critical injuries and were transported to the hospital. One was taken via ground ambulance while the other was airlifted by a UCAN helicopter service.

The damaged motorcycle was subsequently towed away from the scene by Cheever’s Towing & Recovery.
