Highland Fire Department Extricates Driver Monday Morning
At 9:12 am on 3-23-2020, officers were dispatched to a personal injury accident at Cline Avenue and 179th, according To Commander John Banasiak of The Highland Police. On arrival, a grey 2018 Nissan Altima was observed in the ditch area just west of Cline. The driver was a 48 year old male from Robbins, Illinois and was the only occupant of the vehicle, Banasiak stated. The driver was conscious and he complained of pain to his back and both arms. He had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Highland Fire Department and was then transported via Superior Ambulance to Northlake Methodist Hospital for further treatment. The driver had stated that he was traveling southbound on Cline Avenue approaching the intersection of 179th when an unknown white SUV swerved and cut him off causing him to leave the roadway. The Nissan then struck and knocked down an INDOT light pole and then came to rest against a large Nipsco high tension tower. The Highland Police Department was also assisted by Griffith PD and Griffith VEST. The investigation is ongoing into the crash.
