Hammond Tavern Robbed Christmas Evening
On December 25, 2019, at approximately 8:55 pm, Hammond police responded to Porter’s Tap located at 6405 Kennedy Ave. in reference to an armed robbery, according to Lt. Steve Kellogg of the Hammond Police. Witnesses stated an unknown Hispanic male entered the bar and pointed a handgun at the bartender demanding money. The bartender complied and the suspect fled the bar, Kellogg said.
The suspect was in the bar drinking and left before returning to commit the robbery. The suspect (shown below) was described as Hispanic, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. He was last seen walking south on Kennedy Ave. No one was injured during the crime.
