One Shot At Schererville House Party

A shooting occurred shortly before midnight on the 7900 block of Alexander in Schererville according to witnesses at a house party. Schererville Police told RNS multiple rounds were fired into the residence from outside. A 16 year old female was shot in the back according to Deputy Chief Jeff Cook of The Schererville Police. The teens friends drove the girl to the Taco Bell next to Lake Central to seek help, witnesses said. Police and Fire responded to the parking lot and requested a UCAN helicopter to the scene for a transport. The helicopter landed in the Lake Central School parking lot which partially closed 41 for a short period of time. The teen is currently in stable condition as of Saturday morning, Cook said.

Police could be seen canvassing the yard where the shooting is believed to happen on the 7900 block of Alexander and allowing multiple people to leave the scene. There are no suspects in custody at this time, police told RNS. Police also said this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is not an ongoing threat to residents at this time, Cook stated.

  1. Another air ambulance transport to a Chicago hospital. The level of medical care needed to treat and save lives is not available from any of the regions hospitals. just saying.

    1. I do not know the specifics of this case. The likely scenario is that the EMTs consulted with a local ER trauma doctor who advised that in the best interests of the patient sending them to a Chicago hospital that has the specialists actually in the hospital would be best. No local small town hospital could ever maintain a full staff of ALL the possible specialists that could be needed around the clock. Just sayin.

  2. Yes, it’s very True, we have No Level One Trauma Centers ( hospitals) any near NW Indiana! So if you or your loved one needs serious medical attention, you are out of luck! Many people don’t realize this…..we all need to demand that a level one hospital is available to us……let’s wake up , before it’s too late!
