A Crown Point Community School Corporation bus carrying Taft students was involved in a crash Friday afternoon shortly after 3 near 121st Street and Decatur Road in Winfield.
According to CPCSC, the bus was involved in an accident with another vehicle. Initial emergency radio traffic indicated the driver of the other vehicle was trapped and a medical helicopter was requested to the scene.
School officials said there were no serious injuries reported among the students on the bus. Two students were treated for minor injuries and the bus driver was also treated for minor injuries. Officials confirmed the driver of the other vehicle is a Crown Point High School student who is receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the crash.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and Winfield Police Department are handling the investigation.We will update more to this article as information is received.
