On January 2nd, 2020 at 3:30pm Portage Police responded to Portage House of Pancakes at 5900 US HWY 6 for a report of a man attempting to pass a counterfeit hundred dollar bill, a police records state. This was shortly after Portage Police responded to two separate locations in Portage for a male attempting to pass a counterfeit note but was turned down. The owner of the House of Pancakes went to a local coin shop to have a second opinion done on the bill that the restaurant accepted after he suspicions were raised. The coin shop confirmed the bill was indeed fake. The owner of the Pancake House had video footage of suspect who has now been identified as Lee Robinson, 46, of Chicago, by police.
