Munster Bank Robber Captured In Hammond
On January 7, 2020 at approximately 9:10AM, the Munster Police responded to a robbery at First Midwest Bank located at 750 Ridge Road, Lt. Peirick of The Munster Police said. The subject described as a black male, in his late 50’s, wearing a gray suit with an ivory colored fedora and large rimmed glasses presented a note to the teller and demanded money and implied he had a gun. The subject fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash.
In the early evening hours of January 7, 2020, Munster Officers along with the assistance from public and other investigatory means, were able to identify the suspect as Godoy Carpenter (55) of Hammond, Peirick told Region News. At approximately 9:00pm, Munster Officers along with Hammond Officers served a search warrant in the 5600 block of Sohl Avenue in Hammond, Indiana. Several items of evidence were recovered, and Carpenter was taken into custody. Police will present the case to Lake County Prosecutors Office later this week, Munster Police stated.
